The Paperback Exchange opened in 1981. In the basement was one of Scarborough’s hidden jewels: Ron’s Comic Room. During the pandemic, however, The Paperback Exchange became a comic book-only store and The Comic Room was born. After 40 years, it is not only one of Toronto’s oldest comic book stores, but Scarborough’s last dedicated comic store.
For all of these years, there’s been one constant in the store: Troy. While Troy’s departure leaves an unfillable void, we are proud to announce a re-launch of this beloved store as the Scarborough Comic Room.
Now under new ownership, there will be some changes to the store that we hope will continue to justify the community’s faith in this store for the past four decades.
